Why Your GCA Membership is Important

Stewardship begins with education, and your support of Grand Canyon Association will build better stewards of the canyon and other public lands for generations to come. Grand Canyon Association members provide vital support to Grand Canyon National Park’s educational efforts.

As a member, you will help fund all manner of critical activities and programs at Grand Canyon National Park:

  • The publication and distribution of over two million pieces of free informational literature to park visitors, including the park newspaper The Guide

  • The creation of over 200 informational panels along trails, near prehistoric sites and next to historic structures throughout the park
  • Numerous scientific studies, including the radio collaring of desert bighorn sheep to allow for scientific study

  • Historical restoration of pioneer-era buildings in the park, including Kolb Studio
  • The creation and distribution of Travelin’ Trunks, which reach more than 6,000 schoolchildren nationwide each year

  • Popular events such as the Star Party and HawkWatch International’s raptor count
  • Symposia on the South Rim featuring leading scholars researching aspects of Grand Canyon, and the publication of the proceedings of these symposia.
  • One-on-one visitor information services by telephone, through e-mail and face-to-face with GCA employees

These and many other educational programs at Grand Canyon National Park would not be possible without the support of GCA members.

It is the mission of Grand Canyon Association to cultivate knowledge, discovery, and stewardship for the benefit of Grand Canyon National Park and its visitors.
