With few exceptions,
GCFI backpacking classes take advantage of one
or more of Grand Canyon’s established backcountry
trails (the remainder takes place exclusively
off-trail). No two trails are alike. Each has
it’s own merits, obstacles, challenges,
and colorful history. The only common thread you
will find among Grand Canyon trails is that they
are punishing at best and unforgiving at worst.
For better or worse, these trails are the only
way to access the study sites and points of interest
that anchor most GCFI classes.
