This wide-ranging show provides a first-time look at the Havasupai people of the Grand Canyon and features the origins, history, art, and culture of these remarkable people. Included are historic and contemporary photographs of their stunning homeland, some never before shown, and examples of their music and language, one of the oldest and most actively used indigenous languages of North America.
"This exhibit tells our history, tradition and culture," Coleen Kaska told the Navajo Hopi Observer. "It is an honor to be here among the elders. I know also from my elders that you don't want to forget your culture. They tell us that you can always come back to where you were born."
The Grand Canyon Association developed the exhibit with the blessing and guidance of the Havasupai people.
