Visitors can learn about characters from Grand Canyon’s past as they come to life and share their stories about life on the rim. Join us as park rangers get into costume and become influential characters from Grand Canyon's past.

Fourth of July Parade

July 4, 2019

11:00 a.m.

Downtown Flagstaff, Arizona and Tusayan, Arizona

Join 20,000 spectators to watch over 100 floats, livestock, dancers, a marching band, and much more parading down the streets of downtown Flagstaff! Grand Canyon National Park rangers, horses, and staff, as well as Grand Canyon Conservancy staff, will march in this fun parade in the morning. Then they’ll gather up their things and drive to Tusayan at the edge of Grand Canyon National Park, to participate in that city’s parade in the afternoon.

American Indian Heritage Days

August 1-31, 2019

North Rim, Grand Canyon National Park

This event, which celebrates the rich cultural diversity of the Colorado Plateau, the Arizona Strip, and the Grand Canyon, offers special programs by tribal members and non-tribal members on a variety of subjects, ranging from ethno-botany to American Indian flute playing and dance. Programmed activities will take place in various locations throughout the North Rim developed area.

Hispanic Heritage Month

The Grand Canyon has a rich history of Spaniards and Mexicans exploring, pioneering and working in the region. That history goes back over 400 years to the arrival of part of the Coronado expedition in 1540.

Events include bilingual walks and programs, demonstrations of traditional Mexican handicrafts, and more.
