In 20 years of providing educational opportunities for Grand Canyon National Park visitors, the Field Institute has been host to participants from all 50 states and over a dozen foreign countries.
Here are the reflections of a few of our alumni:
I wanted to let the Grand Canyon Association know that my family and I enjoyed our half-day hiking with Kathleen “Keek” Mensing on the North Kaibab Trail on July 28, 2014. We were impressed with Ms. Mensing's guided hike. She expertly covered the flora, fauna, geology, archaeology, anthropology, and lore of the Grand Canyon. She also wasn't stumped by the questions asked by our inquisitive 13 year old son who considers himself an expert on geology. She's an asset to your mission and I'm glad that we were able to spend some time with her. Thank you!
Just wanted to thank you all for a wonderful experience. My family and I did the day hike (Meet the Canyon) last week with Slim and Carl. Slim and Carl were beyond all my expectations! We loved them both... great people. Thanks so much and we will be seeing you again for bigger trips!
— Mr. Jonathan R., Ooltewah, TN
Our five-day backpacking class with the Field Institute exceeded all our expectations. This was our first introduction to the Southwest after spending years hiking the Appalachian Trail. You’ll be seeing much more of us. Thanks to everyone at the Field Institute for your expertise, patience and professionalism.
— Dr. and Mrs. Phillip M., Houston, TX
I’d visited the canyon a dozen times before joining the Field Institute. Had I known what I was missing I would have done so much sooner! Your team’s passion for the canyon is contagious. I'll be telling all my friends about your program.
— S. Meyer, Bethesda, MD
The Field Institute made our experience as grand as the canyon you call home. Thanks for the memories.
— P. Sullivan (and daughters), La Jolla, CA
Thank you for all you gave us on our hike into the canyon. It was grand and memorable, and the Field Institute made it come alive through your instruction and guidance. The instructors’ passion for all things natural—flowers, sky, geologic formation and river currents—are both infectious and marvelous to behold. We were truly fortunate to be part of your world ...
— David and Nancy Page, Baltimore, MD
Our guide was great at pointing out things that you would otherwise have walked past and totally missed. She was well prepared with tools and knowledge to make for a very enjoyable experience. We particularly liked the small class size.
— Isabela, Weston, MA
