Overview

Join the Grand Canyon Conservancy Field Institute for an educationally-rich and fun-filled Hiking Guide Training Seminar. This program is specifically designed for organizations and individuals conducting commercial and non-commercial hikes and backpacks in Grand Canyon National Park.

The seminar is the perfect opportunity to hone your guide-craft, learn more about Grand Canyon’s natural and cultural resources, and network at the same time! 2020 will be our eighteenth year presenting the Guide Training Seminar, and once again is packed with fresh content that is sure to pique your interest.


Program Highlights

The Hiking Guide Training Seminar is presented by Grand Canyon Conservancy, the official nonprofit partner of Grand Canyon National Park. Provided at the request of the National Park Service, this seminar is designed to maximize personal and organizational effectiveness, enhance the educational experience of your hiking clients, and protect the fragile natural and cultural resources of the park.  

We inspire people to protect and enhance Grand Canyon National Park for present and future generations.

What's Included

Price for the event includes:

  • Two days packed with practical information on the preservation, interpretation, and management of Grand Canyon National Park by NPS resource managers, Rangers, visiting researchers, and Grand Canyon Conservancy Field Institute instructors.
  • Mixer at Yavapai Lodge on Friday.
  • Camping at Mather Campground (use the Campground Form in the Additional Notes section).

What's not included

You are responsible for:

  • Transportation to and from the canyon
  • Hotel lodging in the park
  • Meals
