Overview

Taught by expert instructors from NOLS Wilderness Medicine, this class teaches participants the standards for urban and wilderness care situations, and emphasizes decision making and injury prevention. Some of the topics covered include CPR, dehydration and heat-related injuries, shock, spine and head trauma, musculoskeletal injuries, wound management, environmental emergencies, and common expedition problems.

What's Included

Price for the class includes:

What's not included

You are responsible for:

  • Food and camping gear.
  • Transportation to and from the canyon.
  • 4 nights of camping during class - an additional $15.00 per person.

Additional notes

Most of the instruction takes place in a classroom setting or in nearby wooded areas on the Rim.

This three-day skills-based class is for individuals who are current Wilderness First Responders with a valid certification through WMI, SOLO, NOLS, WMA, or WPT. Those with expired certifications are required to take the full 80-hour Wilderness First Responder in order to re-certify.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older to attend - unless attending with a parent or legal guardian.
