Mather Campground

Reservations can be made for Mather Campground on the South Rim up to six months in advance by contacting National Recreation Reservation Service: (877) 444-6777.

Trailer Village

If you require a site with a hookup (available only on the South Rim at Trailer Village), you need to reserve and pay in advance for your site by contacting Delaware North's website.

Below the Canyon Rim

For Start Dates in 2023:

$10 per permit plus $12 per person or stock animal per night camped below the rim and $12 per group per night camped above the rim. Denied requests will not incur a charge. Permits canceled at least four days in advance will receive hiker credit (minus a $10 cancellation charge) valid for one year. Backcountry Information Center charges are non-refundable.

For Start Dates in 2024

Grand Canyon National Park plans to move its overnight backcountry reservation system to Recreation.gov for all calendar year 2024 and later permits. For Grand Canyon backcountry permits and Recreation.gov FAQs visit www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/backcountry-permit-questions.htm. $10 per permit or lottery application plus a nightly charge of $12 per person for all below rim areas and $4 per person for all above rim areas. The lottery/basic permit charge is non-refundable. The per person or stock animal nightly charge is refundable until 30 days before permit start date.

Ten-X Campground

2 miles/3 km south of Tusayan. Ten-X Campground is open May 1–October 16. No hook-ups or showers; pit toilets and cold water faucets are located throughout the campground. Operated by the U.S. Forest Service.

Dispersed Camping

Camping 'at-large' is permitted in the national forest outside the park. Camping must be at least 0.25mile/ 0.4 km away from Highway 64. Other restrictions may apply. Camper Village

Commercial campground located seven miles south of Grand Canyon Village in the town of Tusayan. Call (928) 638-2887. Open seasonally. Hook-ups and coin-operated showers are available.

DeMotte Campground

DeMotte Campground is operated by the U.S. Forest Service.

16 miles/28km north of the canyon rim. No hookups. Half of the sites may be reserved. Generally open May 15–October 15 for overnight camping, depending on snowfall. $18 for the first vehicle, $8 for the second, per site.

Jacob Lake Campground

Jacob Lake Campground is operated by the U.S. Forest Service.

45 miles/75 km north of the North Rim, during the summer only, no hookups or reservations. $18 per per night for first vehicle; second vehicle $8. Free evening programs.

Dispersed Camping

Permitted in the national forest outside the park; there are restrictions, however. Inquire at North Rim Visitor Center inside park, or at Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center at Jacob Lake (928) 643-7298. Kaibab Camper Village (Jacob Lake)
