The 13th Annual Celebration of Art will be September 3, 2021 - January 17, 2022. Onsite activities at Grand Canyon National Park will be September 11-18, 2021, followed by an exhibition and sale through January 17, 2022.
Celebration of Art (CoA) is a wonderful tradition at Grand Canyon National Park, providing a vibrant experience for visitors, a venue for artists inspired by the canyon, and a successful fundraiser to benefit a dedicated art venue and arts programming at the park. For this year's event, we are welcoming back all of our 2020 artists.
Since 2009, CoA has invited participating artists to paint “en plein air” (outside on location) for a week at the canyon. The works produced from the event will be available for purchase online and on display at historic Kolb Studio for a four-month sale and exhibition beginning Sunday, September 19, 2021.
For additional information about CoA or questions, contact Kathy Duley at firstname.lastname@example.org or (480) 277-0458.
Unless otherwise noted, events are free with park admission and open to the public with CDC guidelines in place.

Studio paintings will be available for purchase through an online intent to purchase form. By submitting the form, there is no guarantee that you will be selected to purchase the painting. All submissions will be entered into a random drawing for each painting. Celebration of Art sponsors will be drawn first and given the first right of refusal to purchase a piece. All winners will be contacted Sunday morning, September 19, to confirm the purchase.
Bid in our online auction between Friday, September 3, and Saturday, September 18, 2021. The auction will close promptly on Saturday, September 18, at 6:00 p.m. Arizona Time.
Winners will be determined at the close of the auction.
Artists will be at the South Rim painting "en plain air," where park visitors will have the opportunity to watch the artists paint as they seek to represent the shifting light and shadow, amazing landforms, and extraordinary colors of this vast landscape. Most artists prefer to paint mornings and evenings when the canyon is most vibrant.
Please practice physical distancing while observing the artists and respect their space.
Preview the Celebration of Art exhibition early by private appointment only. Attendees can purchase art during this time and submit an Intent to Purchase form for studio pieces. To reserve a time, please click here.
The cost is $50 for each 30-minute viewing appointment. Please note, there is a maximum of six members per group, per appointment, to provide an intimate viewing of the exhibition.
Artists can be found painting between Verkamp's Visitor Center and Thunderbird Lodge in the village for a group Paint Out. This is a great time for visitors to ask questions and engage with artists while they are creating their beautiful plein air paintings. We will be sharing a live feed of this event on Facebook and YouTube for those who cannot join in person.
All completed paintings will be available for purchase on-site until 6 p.m.
All available work will be for sale online at shop.grandcanyon.org with proceeds going towards a fund to establish a dedicated art venue and educational programming at the South Rim.
Kolb Studio is open to the public daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. For a private appointment at Kolb Studio to view the artwork, contact Kathy Duley at email@example.com or (480) 277-0458.
