Lecture + Constellation Tour
Astronomer in Residence

A Brief History of Aliens

Dr. Logan Pearce leads an exploration of one of humanity’s most enduring questions: Are we alone in the universe? In this engaging talk, Dr. Pearce reviews prominent claims of potential life signals over the past century—from Percival Lowell to SETI to contemporary efforts—and examines how these claims have held up under closer scientific scrutiny. Attendees will gain insight into how professional astronomers approach this fascinating topic and learn to evaluate sensational headlines with a critical eye, guided by the principle that “extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” Following the lecture, Dr. Pearce will give a constellation tour.
