Anne Finger

Anne Finger will be the Artist in Residence at Grand Canyon from October 1-31, 2024. Anne is the author of several novels, short-story collections, and personal memoirs that place her experience with disability in a broader social context. Anne won the Prairie Schooner Prize for her short story collection, *Call Me Ahab*, which takes iconic disability stories such as Moby Dick and "crips" them, rewriting them from a disabled perspective. She is currently working on a collection of personal essays, "Wheeling in Berlin," as well as on a collection of essays on Antonio Gramsci and disability. Anne has taught both creative writing and disability studies in the university setting, most recently as the Kate Welling Distinguished Scholar in Disability Studies at Miami University and as a lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley. She is the recipient of a Creative Capital Grant, the Berlin Prize (2019), and has held residencies at MacDowell Colony, Djerassi, Yaddo, Centrum, and Hedgebrook.
