Grand Canyon Nat. Park: Desert Bighorn Sheep 3726
Among the largest hoofed mammals in the park, the desert bighorn sheep, Ovis canadensis, are relatively scarce along the rim, preferring the rocky slopes and side canyons of the inner canyon. These animals roam the entire depth of the canyon from the rims to the Colorado River, .

Curious about the wild neighbors that call Grand Canyon home? Canyon Creatures is a drop-in outdoor program featuring hands-on props, specimens, and a naturalist ready to bring the canyon's wildlife up close.

Discover Grand Canyon Wildlife

Curious about what's living, crawling, and soaring through Grand Canyon? Stop by and find out. Canyon Creatures is a drop-in outdoor program where a naturalist is on hand with props, specimens, and activities that bring the canyon's wildlife up close. Each day features a different cast of animals — from elk and coyotes to Gila monsters, bats, and beyond — so there's always something new to discover. Come curious, leave with a few new favorite animals that call Grand Canyon home.

An irregularly-shaped one-story building, approximately 40-feet (12 m) deep by 65-feet (20 m) wide; exterior walls and foundation are made of uniformly-sized limestone boulders.
