Painted in late afternoon from Yavapai Point, Light in the Depths studies a sunlit ledge glowing against the canyon’s vast interior. Backlighting reveals the pale Coconino Sandstone and the darker Hermit Shale, with the warm reds of the Supai Group rising behind. Using earth pigments, I aimed to echo the very minerals that shape these ancient walls.
