Native American Heritage Days
Celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the Colorado Plateau, Arizona Strip, and the Grand Canyon area.

This annual event provides visitors and staff the opportunity to experience and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the Colorado Plateau, Arizona Strip, and the Grand Canyon area.
Heritage Days began in the early 1990s as "Paiute Days." In a 2022 video, retired park ranger Marcia Martin recalled that the Park Service was beginning to repatriate artifacts about that time, and she had the idea to honor the Indigenous tribes who had ties to the North Rim. After a few years, the event expanded to include all 11 Grand Canyon tribal communities.
