As a resident, you'll have dedicated time to:

  • Create work inspired by Grand Canyon.
  • Develop educational or interpretive programs.
  • Share your knowledge with visitors through public engagement.
  • Learn from park staff, scientists, and fellow creatives.
  • Experience changing seasons, wildlife, geology, and some of the darkest night skies in the country.

Many past residents describe the experience as transformative—both personally and professionally. Time spent at Grand Canyon often shapes future creative work, teaching, research, and outreach long after the residency concludes.

Why This Program Matters

Grand Canyon Conservancy believes that protecting Grand Canyon begins by helping people build meaningful connections to it.

Art, science, and education each offer unique ways to help visitors see the park differently. A painting can capture the canyon's changing light. A naturalist talk can reveal millions of years of geologic history. An astronomy program can help visitors experience some of the darkest skies remaining in North America.

Residents become storytellers, interpreters, and ambassadors who help transform a visit into a lasting connection.

By sharing their knowledge and creativity, residents support Grand Canyon Conservancy's mission to inspire generations of park stewards while enriching the visitor experience through education, exploration, and discovery.
