North Rim Cape Royal

High atop the Kaibab Plateau, the North Rim of Grand Canyon feels like a world apart. A sanctuary of forests, meadows, and vast overlooks where light and shadow tell timeless stories. Even after loss, its wild spirit endures, reminding us of nature's resilience and beauty.

Join us for a virtual Book Club event with Adam Schallau, author of North Rim: Wild and Enduring. A visual tribute to the secluded majesty of Grand Canyon’s North Rim, this coffee-table book explores quiet forests and dramatic viewpoints that define this lesser-traveled landscape. Through compelling images, it evokes solitude, reverence, and the enduring spirit of this rugged place, celebrating its majesty, honoring its community, and inviting you to carry the North Rim in your heart.

Adam Schallau is a photographer, river runner, and guide who has spent nearly two decades exploring and photographing Grand Canyon, from its rims to the Colorado River. In 2009, Adam was an Artist-in-Residence at Grand Canyon National Park, and his photograph Revelation is part of the park’s permanent museum collection. He has had three books about the canyon published, including North Rim: Wild and Enduring. His work has appeared in Arizona Highways, National Geographic Traveler, and numerous other publications. Adam’s photography is rooted in curiosity and the belief that meaningful photographs come from taking the time to see beyond the obvious.

The discussion and Q&A will be moderated by Mindy Riesenberg, Chief Communications Officer at Grand Canyon Conservancy. Mindy will be asking Adam questions submitted by our live audience, as well as a few of her own.

While we encourage purchasing the book before the event, it is not required. North Rim: Wild and Enduring is available for purchase on GCC's website.Â
